How to check if a company is in liquidation
Insolvency in the UK is announced in The Gazette — winding-up petitions, liquidator appointments, and strike-off notices are all public.
Search the company here and open its Gazette tab: it lists the company's official notices with dates and types. The company's status line also shows liquidation states directly from the register, and the charges tab shows secured lenders.
Caution reading Gazette notices: a petition is not an outcome — some winding-up proceedings are rescinded or concluded, so check for later notices and the current register status before treating a company as gone.

The official record is The Gazette and the Insolvency Service's registers; the register status at Companies House is definitive for the company's current state.
