Mr Alan Douglas Green (Mr Green) caused Alsped65 Limited (Alsped) to breach the terms of the Government backed Bounce Back Loan (BBL) scheme by overstating the turnover of Alsped, such that it obtained a BBL of £50,000 when it was entitled to at most £6,130. Mr Green also failed to ensure that the funds were used for the economic benefit of Alsped’s business, which was again in breach of the terms of the BBL. In that:- • Businesses eligible for a BBL were able to borrow up to 25% of their turnover figure for the calendar year 2019, with a maximum loan of £50,000. • • Alsped’s accounts for the year ended 30/04/2020 showed a turnover of £24,522. On 1 July 2020 Alsped received a £50,000 BBL into its bank account, the turnover figure on the application having been given as £230,000. • Between 01/07/2020 and 07/07/2020, Alsped paid £38,526 of the BBL proceeds direct to Mr Green, which included a payment of £30,000 made on 07/07/2020. A further payment of £12,900 was made on 06/07/2020 for a vehicle purchase by Mr Green. • Mr Green personally benefitted from the BBL and there was no economic benefit to Alsped from these payments. • No payments have been identified as having been made by Alsped to repay the BBL and the £50,000 BBL remained outstanding at the date of Liquidation.
