On 07 May 2020 Bozhidar Genov (“Mr Genov”) caused BG Travel Ltd (BG Travel) to obtain a Bounce Back Loan (BBL) in the sum of £45,000 using an overstated turnover figure in the loan application. Consequently, BG received £33,726 more monies than it was entitled to from the BBL scheme. In that: A business could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover in calendar year 2019. On 11 May 2020 BG Travel obtained a BBL of £45,000 by stating the company’s turnover was £180,000 on the application form, despite its turnover for the period 1 February 2018 to 31 January 2019 being only £45,097. (It’s turnover for the period 1 February 2019 to 31 January 2020 was only £19,158). Based on BG Travel turnover of £45,097 for the year to 31 January 2019, the company was only entitled to a BBL loan of £11,274. On 22 March 2022 BG Travel entered into creditors’ voluntary liquidation with liabilities of £45,433 including £45,377 which is owed in respect of the BBL.
