On or around 26 May 2020, Jack Goodey (“Mr Goodey”) caused JG Construction Design Ltd (“JG Construction”) to make a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) application for £30,000, when he knew or ought to have known that JG Construction was not eligible for a loan of such amount, in that: Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of its turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019, or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated annual turnover from the date the business started. JG Construction was incorporated on 21 July 2014. JG Construction’s accounts for the year ended 31 December 2019 record turnover as £40,632. On or around 26 May 2020, Mr Goodey signed an agreement on behalf of JG Construction for a BBL of £30,000 declaring that JG Construction’s turnover for 2019 was £120,000. On 27 May 2020 JG Construction received the BBL funds of £30,000 into its bank account. By making an application to borrow £30,000 and obtaining such funds, Mr Goodey caused JG Construction to receive more BBL funds than entitled to.
