On 19 June 2020 Mr Kenneth Crawley (“ Mr Crawley”) allowed Abbey Tours UK Limited (“Abbey”) to apply and obtain a Government-backed bounce back loan (‘BBL’) in the sum of £50,000 for which it was not eligible by providing false or knowingly inaccurate information regarding Abbey’s turnover in 2019 thereby causing it to obtain more monies than it was entitled to, in that: • The terms of the BBL scheme were such that an applicant company could obtain a loan of up to 25% of its turnover for the 2019 calendar year if it had been trading before 01 January 2019 or of its estimated annual turnover if trading began after 01 January 2019, up to a maximum value of £50,000. • Abbey was incorporated on 31 July 2015 and began trade in August 2015. • According to Abbey’s financial statements turnover in the financial year to 31 August 2019 had been £42,396 and £nil in the financial year ending 31 August 2020. All credits received into the company’s bank account in the calendar year 2019 came to £5,685. Turnover in such amount fell below the threshold of £8,000 in turnover required to obtain the lowest available BBL of £2,000 • Abbey made an application on 19 June 2020 for a BBL of £50,000, stating that turnover for 2019 had been £225,000. • By declaring the turnover as £225,000, Abbey received a BBL of at least £39,401 more than it was entitled to. • The application was approved and the BBL monies of £50,000 were received into Abbey’s current account on 22 June 2020, • Abbey entered Creditor’s Voluntary Liquidation on 11 August 2022 • Total liabilities at liquidation amount to £67,065 of which £50,609 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL
