In July 2020, Lee Nuttall (“Mr Nuttall”) caused Extravision Security Systems Ltd (“Extravision”) to apply for a £50,000 government backed Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”), which he knew or ought to have known was an amount which Extravision was not fully entitled, by using an inaccurate turnover figure. In that: • Under the BBL scheme, businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of its turnover for the calendar year 2019. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. • Extra was incorporated on 05 May 2005. • In July 2020 Mr Nuttall applied for a BBL of £50,000 on behalf of Extravision, and he declared an annual turnover for 2019 of £225,000 in the application. • The £50,000 BBL was paid into the company bank account on 10 July 2020. • Full accounts for the company for the period ended 31 May 2019 show that the annual turnover of the company was £57,143. • Full accounts for the company for the period ended 31 May 2020 show that the annual turnover of the company was £61,660. • By overstating the company’s turnover on its application for a BBL, Mr Nuttall caused Extra to obtain a larger BBL than it was entitled to. • At liquidation on 18 March 2025 £39,801 of the £50,000 BBL remained outstanding.
