Between 1 May 2015 to 31 October 2018 Matloob Hussain (“Mr Hussain”) failed to ensure that DENTON KEBAB HOUSE LIMITED (“DENTON”) submitted accurate returns to HM Revenue & Customs (“HMRC”) in relation to its sales resulting in an under declaration of VAT and estimated corporation tax liability: •On 8 August 2018 HMRC visited the trading premises of DENTON and subsequently visited Denton’s accountants on 20 September 2018 •HMRC’s investigation identified that card receipts were greater than the declared sales in Denton’s tax returns, leading to an under declaration of tax •HMRC considered the inaccuracies were as a result of deliberate behaviour •HMRC submitted a final claim in the liquidation totalling £330,467 which includes Corporation Tax totalling £157,150 with penalties of £54,454 and interest of £9,967 and VAT for the period 01/15 to 01/20 totalling £79,415 with penalties of £23,590 and interest of £5,891
