On or around 11 May 2020, Nicholas George Hanna (“Mr Hanna”) caused Margick Limited (“Margick”) to apply for a Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) of £40,000 using overstated turnover figures, which resulted in Margick obtaining a BBL on 11 May 2020 that was more than Margick was entitled to. In that: • Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019 or where a business was established after 1 January 2019 it is their estimated turnover. • Margick was incorporated on 31 January 2017 and commenced trading on the same date. • On or around 11 May 2020, Mr Hanna applied for a BBL of £40,000 on behalf of Margick declaring that its turnover was £170,000. • Accounts for period ended 31 January 2019 disclose turnover of £69,406 and accounts for period ended 31 January 2020, disclose turnover of £59,478. • No evidence has been provided to show that Margick was entitled to the £40,000 BBL received on 11 May 2020. • Total liabilities at liquidation/administration amount to £68,947 of which £34,804 relates to the amount owed in respect of the BBL.
