On 21 May 2020 Peter Christopher Roberts (“Mr Roberts”) caused Green Fleet Electrical Limited (“Green Fleet”) to obtain a £50,000 Bounce Back Loan (“BBL”) by providing misleading information about its relevant turnover contrary to the terms of the BBL, in that: Under the BBL scheme businesses could apply for a loan of between £2,000 and £50,000 subject to a maximum of up to 25% of turnover. The turnover figure was self-certified by the applicant. The turnover figure required was that for the calendar year 2019. Green Fleet was incorporated on 08 July 2013; On 21 May 2020 Mr Roberts obtained a £50,000 BBL for Green Fleet declaring a turnover of £215,000; Green Fleet’s turnover in the year to 31 July 2019 was £105,333 and its turnover in the year to 31 July 2020 was £28,908. Accounting records indicate that £11,021 of the turnover in the year to 31 July 2020 related to the 2019 calendar year turnover. Therefore, the company turnover for 2019 would not have exceeded £116,354 meaning the Green Fleet would have been eligible for a BBL of £29,088. At liquidation the company’s liabilities totalled £67,200 of which £48,600 was owed in respect of the BBL.
