DEG failed to disclose the corporation tax due on the sale of the same properties to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) which resulted in HMRC raising an assessment in the sum of £461,698.63 and a penalty of £615,484. • On 20 September 2013 DEG sold 11 properties realising £3,100,000. • DEG made no reference to the sales in its accounts for the year ended 28 February 2014 which reported that the company was dormant. • Following an investigation into DEG, HMRC discovered the sales and on 06 September 2016 assessed that Corporation Tax in the sum of £461,699 was due. • HMRC lodged a total claim for Tax liabilities totalling £1,077,183, which remains unpaid at liquidation.
