From 6 February 2014 to 28 November 2017, Syed Shabbi Ahmed (“Mr Ahmed”) caused Blue Mango Tree Limited (“Blue Mango”) to submit inaccurate Value Added Tax (“VAT”) and Corporation Tax (“CT”) returns to HM Revenue &amp; Customs (“HMRC”) under-declaring VAT due on sales by at least £130,533 and under-declaring CT by at least £198,547, in that:<br>Blue Mango’s VAT returns from 02/14 to 11/17 submitted to HMRC were submitted on the basis of receipts of £2,078,433 from a bank account which was declared to HMRC. Payments for these returns have been maintained in full for these periods;<br>Blue Mango’s CT returns for the period from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2016 submitted to HMRC declared CT due of £14,188 and payments of £14,188 were made to HMRC;<br>HMRC have been paid £217,850 in the period 6 February 2014 to 28 November 2017 from the bank account which Blue Mango declared in its records;<br>From 6 February 2014 to 28 November 2017 Blue Mango operated a bank account that was not disclosed to HMRC or accounted for in Blue Mango’s records;<br>Analysis of the undisclosed bank account for the period of operation shows total receipts of £797,587 and total payments of £799,882 of which £535,030 was withdrawn in cash and £123,435 was transferred to Mr Ahmed;<br>HMRC raised officer assessments totalling £130,533 plus interest of £8,963 for under-declared VAT in the VAT periods 02/17 to 11/17 and raised civil penalties of £65,254;<br>HMRC raised assessments totalling £198,547 for under-declared CT in the period 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2016 and raised civil penalties of £99,273;<br>At liquidation HMRC were owed £567,299 of which at least £502,570 (including interest &amp; penalties) was in respect of the under-declared VAT and CT.
