Michael James Cahill (“Mr Cahill”) failed to maintain and/or preserve adequate accounting records for Range Contracts Ltd (“Range”) for the period from at least 1 July 2017 to at least 28 February 2018 (after which date Range ceased to trade) or alternatively failed to deliver them up to the Official Receiver despite requests to do so. As a consequence, it has not been possible to: • Ascertain the full and true amount due to HMRC in respect of VAT in the absence of full sales and purchase invoices for the periods 09/17 to 12/17; • Ascertain the full and true amount due to HMRC in respect of CIS in the absence of full CIS records recording gross payments made to subcontractors and any deductions made from subcontractor payments for the months ended 5 August 2017 to 5 February 2018; • Ascertain the level of its workforce including subcontractors; • Ascertain the nature of Range's trading; • The date that Range ceased trading; • Ascertain whether somebody other than Mr Cahill was the person with ultimate control of Rangel • Ascertain the purpose of withdrawals recorded in the bank account statements totalling £779,970 and in particular whether these were for Range's benefit.
