Hi there to you. I'm Alan, and I would like to share my story with you. Towards the end of 2022, I decided to make some big changes, that would enable me to start the next chapter of my life on my terms, with my personal goals at the forefront. Exciting stuff to challenge me and make me feel alive! Changes were necessary, as my marriage wasn’t going too well, my day-to-day job had become boring, and time was passing me by. At 58 years old, frustration and drudgery were thoughts that just kept creeping in, no matter how positive I was. I was stuck, but I felt ready to create a life I could live to the full, with new challenges, travel and fun. The start I decided to step away from conventional employment. My work experience was primarily in Policing, with the last part of my career as a Detective, then a civilian, in the field of protecting vulnerable adults and children. It could be argued this was a safe job, which paid quite well, but after many years I was bored and frustrated at not being able to be creative, or to think big, and sadly I was surrounded by negativity in the workplace. I wanted a new challenge, where I would have the support of positive leaders and colleagues. A big goal was to spend more time indulging my passion for open water (sea) swimming and to spend more time painting. I have a love of the natural world and a creative streak! Here I am I now live in a lovely place in southwest Cornwall having moved here just a few weeks ago and have my dream cottage with fabulous views over Mounts Bay. It was always a dream to have a glorious sea view! Since beginning this new opportunity, I have had incredible support and the positive vibrations from colleagues bounce towards me daily. I have been able to sea swim almost daily and to start painting again (as it is me who dictates my work schedule) and I can now create a secure future financially, another of the goals I set for myself.
