Improper conduct which resulted in their disqualification
On or around 11 September 2020 Mrs Saira Batool (‘Mrs Batool’) caused Safe Elec Limited (‘Safe Elec’) to act in contravention of the Government-backed bounce back loan (‘BBL’) scheme by applying for and obtaining a BBL of £50,000 to which the company was not entitled. In that: The terms of the BBL scheme were such that an applicant company could obtain a loan if they were engaged in trading or commercial activity in the UK at the date of the application, were carrying on business on 01 March 2020 and had been adversely affected by the effects of the Covid pandemic. Safe Elec was incorporated on 10 December 2019. The company held no bank account until at least 1 September 2020, when its only known bank account was opened. On or around 11 September 2020 Mrs Batool applied, on behalf of Safe Elec, for a BBL of £50,000, advising the bank that the company was carrying on its business at 1 March 2020, engaged in trading or commercial activity in the UK at the date of the application and the company’s estimated turnover was £217,5000. The BBL application was paid into Safe Elec’s bank account on 14 September 2020. Safe Elec had conducted no trade prior to the date of the BBL application, was not trading at the date on which the BBL application was made and received no trade credits into its only known bank account at any point between receiving the BBL and the date of liquidation. No repayments were made in respect of the BBL. The BBL provider is shown as Safe Elec’s sole creditor for £50,000 in the Statement of Affairs signed by Mrs Batool on 21 April 2022. The BBL was paid out of the company’s bank account by way of round-sum bank transfers or ATM withdrawals and there is no evidence of any economic benefit being provided to the company.
