Ireland) 2001 ("the 2001 Order") to add twenty-one substances
(including seventeen synthetic opioids, sixteen of which are nitazenes)
to Part 1 of Schedule 1 to the 2001 Order to allow them to be
designated by Department of Health when it is in the public interest
for their production, supply and possession to be either wholly
unlawful or unlawful except for research or other special purposes, or
for medicinal use of those drugs to be unlawful except under licence.

hour rule as well as a number of minor changes in relation to partial

(AMENDMENT) ORDER (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2024
The Department for Communities has made a Statutory Rule entitled
the Pneumoconiosis, etc., (Workers’ Compensation) (Specified
Diseases and Prescribed Occupations) (Amendment) Order (Northern
Ireland) 2024 (SR 2024 No. 46), which comes into operation the day
after it is affirmed by a resolution of the Assembly.
This Order makes amendments to the list of specified diseases for the
purposes of the Pneumoconiosis, etc., (Workers' Compensation)
(Northern Ireland) Order 1979 ("the 1979 Order") to bring the disease
definitions into line with the Industrial Injuries Benefit legislation. It
also makes consequential amendments to the Pneumoconiosis, etc.,
(Workers’ Compensation) (Prescribed Occupations) Order (Northern
Ireland) 2007 which lists the occupations prescribed for the purpose
of each disease to which the 1979 Order applies.

THE PUBLIC SERVICE PENSIONS ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND)
The Department of Finance has made an Order entitled 'The Public
Service Pensions Revaluation Order (Northern Ireland) 2024',
(S.R.2024 No.45), which comes into operation on 1st April 2024 or
from 6 April 2024 for those schemes who have amended their
revaluation process accordingly for 2024.
The Order fulfils the Department of Finance's obligation under Section
9 of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 to make
a pension related revaluation Order each year. The Order is used by
public service pension schemes to uprate benefits accrued by active
scheme members in each scheme year, with reference to the
procedure set out in the scheme rules. All public service schemes
with the exception of the Firefighters scheme currently apply a prices
(CPI) related annual revaluation. The Firefighters scheme currently
applies an earnings (AWE) related revaluation. This Rule may be

REGULATIONS (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2024
The Department for the Economy has made a Statutory Rule entitled
“The Education (Student Support, etc.) (Amendment) Regulations
(Northern Ireland) 2024” (S.R. 2024 No. 19), which, in the main, came
into operation on 26th February 2024 and with other provisions
coming into operation on 1st September 2024.
This rule amends the Student Fees (Amounts) Regulations (Northern
Ireland) 2005 by increasing the basic and higher amounts of tuition
fees that may be charged to full-time undergraduates in respect of an
academic year beginning on or after 1st September 2024. This
Statutory Rule also contains amendments to the Education (Student
Support) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009. It makes
provision for support for students taking designated higher education
courses in respect of an academic year beginning on or after 1st
September 2024. Specified changes will come into effect when the
regulations come into operation. It further amends the Student Fees
(Qualifying Courses and Persons) Regulations 2007. This rule also

provisions relating to the forfeiture of a beneficiary's pension within
the Royal Ulster Constabulary Pensions Regulations 1988 and the
Police Pension (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2009, in order to align
with those provisions within the Police Pensions Regulations
(Northern Ireland) 2015; removes the potential for disability
discrimination relating to ill health retirement and applies technical

2. appoints all parties claiming an interest to lodge answers to the
petition, if so advised, within 21 days of intimation and advertisement;

process; and remits the process to the Reporter to report on the facts
and circumstances set out in the petition and on the regularity of the
