PLANNING (LISTED BUILDING AND CONSERVATION AREAS)
ACT 1990
SECTION 69
TIFFIELD CONSERVATION AREA
NOTICE is given under the Planning (Listed Buildings and
Conservation Areas) Act 1990, Section 69 that South
Northamptonshire Council has determined on 8th June 2016 to
amend the boundary of the existing Tiffield Conservation Area as
described in the Schedule to this notice.
For those parts of Tiffield not previously included in the conservation
area, the effect of conservation area designations is as follows:
1. Permission will now be required for the demolition of all unlisted
buildings (other than excepted buildings) in the area.
2. Planning applications for development which would in the opinion
of the Local Planning Authority affect the character or appearance of
the conservation area must be given publicity and representations
received as a result of the publicity must be taken into account in
determining the application.
3. It becomes an offence subject to certain exceptions to cut down,
top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or destroy any tree in the area except
with the consent of the local planning authority.
4. The Local Planning Authority is now under a duty to formulate and
publish proposals for the preservation and enhancements of the area.
A map of the amended conservation area may be inspected free of
charge during normal office hours at the offices of South
Northamptonshire Council, The Forum, Moat Lane, Towcester,
Northants, NN12 6AD or on the Councils website at http://
www.southnorthants.gov.uk/.
SCHEDULE
The boundary of the existing Tiffield Conservation Area has been
altered in respect of the following:
• The rationalisation of plot boundaries where these have altered
since initial designation.
• The removal of the modern properties of Barnwell, Milkwood,
Kirkely and Vernon Lodge along High Street South as these are not in
character with the rest of the historic properties within the
conservation area favouring a use of different materials and plan
forms. The historic wall and trees that align the front of the plots are
to remain within the conservation area due to their positive
contribution to the enclosure of Tiffield village centre.
• Amendments made to the boundary behind Bridge House to
remove agricultural buildings.
