Manchester Urban Diggers is a social enterprise working to improve our broken food system and empower communities by creating a real alternative that benefits society and the environment. Our work provides three main benefits: improving the environment, improving personal wellbeing, and strengthening communities, through the universal right to grow, cook and eat food. We deliver wellbeing & community cohesion programmes, catered using food grown on site, as well as volunteering opportunities, food growing workshops, and community events. We support these charitable activities with income generated from garden design and consultation, fresh produce sales, community events, venue hire, volunteer days (eg. CSRs), and our on-site kitchen; all these activities directly fund and align with our charitable objectives. We use gardening and food to improve people’s mental and physical well-being and bring communities together through a love of food and nature.
